Mixed Emotions

We have been celebrating my grandmother's 90th birthday this weekend. We have family in from all over. Some girls and I went out for Julie's 30th birthday Thursday night. Jon and I hosted a dinner for everyone on Friday. I spent last week cleaning and organizing the house, so it would be comfortable for the guests staying with us (just Julie, girls, and Rob) and for the dinner guests. Brother, Rob, did all the cooking which was nice. Yesterday was the big "party" then back to our house for another gathering.

Love being with the people, love opening my home, love celebrating long life...fantastic, fabulous, good memories, etc.

A lot of cleaning and staying up too late...tired.

Julie was on her way home last night after the party and stopped at our cousin's house to pick up her dog, Daisy. Long story short....Daisy didn't come to the car when she pulled up...so she searched the property to find her hurt. Julie came back to town to take her to the vet. Daisy was put to sleep last night. She had to make these decisions with only Nate (away for training) on the phone......sad way to end the day. Feel sad for Julie and family.

Today I am in full swing again. Heading to St. Pete for a bridal shower. Should be a good time!

~~~Roller coaster of emotions the last 24 hours.~~~ Is it Monday yet? :)
Better get going...this is all the time I have to sit....
BTW, my baby is 17 months old today!
Good Hair
I was looking through pics for my sister and I came across these two good haircuts.
Sept. 2008 - Rea was 3 months old. Went as dad's date to a wedding. 1st time getting dressed up after she was born.
May 2009 - Hair a bit shorter, cousin's wedding on Boca Grande
Don't think the shorter bangs I have now are working for me...think I need to go back to the longer ones.
Just me...
Thoughts on my mind before heading to bed...I should already be there.
*Weekends go by so slow when Jon is away. He is camping with dudes on an island.
*I love spending time with my eldest niece. She is so cool! She went through old pictures tonight and found several of us over the years. Being the first grand kid was a big deal. I have loved my 10 years with her. My time with her is so valuable. She keeps track of the days she sees me. The move to Miami will be difficult....
*Why are my weeks so full? Towards the end of one week, I say to myself "oh next week will be slower and I can get into some other projects." Before Monday rolls around, the week is quite full again. And I don't even work! Next big event....big family weekend....house guests, hosting family dinner, birthday bash for 90 year old gram, organizing bridal shower in St. Pete for friend.
*My kitchen is a mess, but I'm going to bed anyway.
Night!
Confessions of a Bad Mommy
Setting: our house, after church, Jon is sleeping upstairs, Rea and I are downstairs
Confession: I dozed off. After some time (not exactly sure how long), I woke up and realized Rea was really quiet.
Outcome: Rea opened the lid on the trash can...not sure why she was snooping around there. She found a brownie from the night before and started eating it. She was busted...brownie still in hand...crumbs on her face and on the floor.
Oops! I stink!
Blessed in the Capitol
The following are my thoughts about my trip to DC last month. I was blessed in so many ways to make the trip.
Blessed to be able to go..period...the opportunity to travel to a place I've wanted to visit for a very long time and be there to celebrate a huge accomplishment.
Blessed to be able to spend some fabulous time with a fine young lady and two remarkable young men....GAB, EWB, & JBB. I was so proud of the way they hauled their luggage through the airport...followed the signs to our gate...handled the shuttle...mastered the escalators...weaved in and out of the ATL airport...spoke politely to strangers on the plane. They are amazing... regardless of the circumstances they have been dealt at times.
Blessed to be able to fully enjoy myself...just get away from normal everyday responsibilities. Words cannot express my gratitude to my family for caring for Reagan. My SIL had her for a day and my MIL had her for a few days and she fed my husband. I didn't worry about her one time. I knew she was in the very best care.
Blessed to be able to have this experience while my husband continues with the mundane responsibilities of life. He works so hard for us EVERYDAY without a single complaint....EVER! He then cared for Rea at night.
Blessed to be in a city rich in tradition and history. Some momentous decisions and discussions have taken place there. We were fortunate to watch the presidential motorcade pass as we were standing outside a restaurant. Although I may disagree with many of his viewpoints, I still respect his position as the leader of our country. (I caught it on video, but no still shots.)
Blessed to have amazing memories. These pictures don't really do it justice...we didn't get a picture of mom and I colliding on the escalator...or dad and I raiding the dorky food store in the lobby, only to return with soup that you drink, a packaged PB&J sandwich, ice cream, a muffin, and some other random stuff, but just know the memories are cherished by this blessed girl. Try to enjoy them as much as I do!
